GIVING HONOR: The Oxnard Peace Officers’ Assn. has added slain Officer Jim Jensen’s name to its annual memorial golf tournament, which will provide 12 high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships. He joins honorees Mike Cole, a former officer killed in a wreck as an Eldorado County deputy, and Jim O’Brien, gunned down in 1993. . . . Jensen’s widow, Jennifer, was touched: “I’m very honored that Jim is involved.” . . . To sign up for the July 7 event, call 385-7638.

NEW LIGHT: The Anacapa Lighthouse gleams again with fresh paint and shiny brass, the Coast Guard having completed its renovation (B1). . . . Of the 40 lighthouses on the California coast, Anacapa is the newest--built in 1936. It hasn’t been staffed since 1966. . . . That may be unromantic, but it’s nothing new. The first light installed on the rocks, in 1912, was also unattended.

OJAI FOLLIES: This being National Volunteer Week--and Ojai being Ojai--Debra Hill could tap a wealth of in-house talent to publicize the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program she directs. . . . Charlotte Bronstein wrote and directed a musical skit about a couple who sell their souls for a blissful retirement, only to be rescued by angelic senior volunteers. . . . Bronstein is a stage and screen veteran. Choreographer Irene Thomas once danced in such New York clubs as the Copacabana. Lighting technician Elmer Bladow taught the craft at UCLA. . . . So if your soul’s in doubt, call 646-RSVP to join the gifted crew.
