Ventura Beats Oxnard in 12 Innings, 7-6

Jeff Chan scored on an error in the 12th inning as Ventura College upset Oxnard, 7-6, in a Western State Conference baseball game Tuesday at Ventura.
With the score tied, 6-6, Chan got aboard on a single. He moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a base hit by Jason Kimble and scored on left-fielder Scott Foli’s error on the play.
Ventura trailed, 6-2, before tying the score with four runs in the eighth.
Dan Comando hit a three-run triple to key the comeback. Comando scored from third on a passed ball to tie the score, 6-6.
Chan finished with four hits and Comando had two for the Pirates (19-19, 12-12 in conference play).
Reliever Aaron Hanel (5-4) held Oxnard scoreless over the final three innings, giving up one hit.
Foli had three hits and drove in a run for Oxnard (30-7, 22-2), which has clinched at least a tie for the North Division title.
The Condors had won 16 in a row, including 14 straight in conference play.
Oxnard has two games remaining, Thursday at home against Santa Barbara and Saturday at Hancock.
Bakersfield 12, Valley 2--Gabe Martinez went five for five, including a double, to pace Bakersfield (23-19, 13-11) in a WSC game at Valley.
Martinez drove in two runs and scored one.
Javier Dorado and Ron Pirayoff each hit run-scoring singles for the Monarchs (14-25, 10-14) in the third inning to tie the score, 2-2.
