L.A.’s Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E., which recently released a new hip-hop album, is at work on a hard rock-oriented release, due this summer. . . . Cheap Trick--which will be on tour paired with Boston this summer following a headlining club tour--will be anthologized in a four-disc box set due in June, with about a third of its 61 tracks either rare or previously unreleased. . . .

In July, Sony will introduce a “Live From the Vaults” series with archival concert albums, including Fillmore collections by Janis Joplin and Santana and Carole King recorded at Carnegie Hall. . . .

Tool is at work in L.A. with producer Dave Bottril (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson) for an album due in September. This will be the debut of new bassist Justin Chancelor, formerly of the English band Peach. Former bassist Paul D’Amour will be launching a new project soon. . . .

Rob Zombie, who directs all of White Zombie’s videos, has made his debut helming a clip for another band with “Rude Awakening” by Prong. It’s the title track of an album due next month. . . . Depeche Mode is in New York working with Bomb the Bass producer Tim Simonon on tracks for an album now expected next spring.
