The JetHawks, fresh off a 10-game losing streak that dropped them from first to last in the California League Southern Division, beat the Modesto A’s, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon, taking two of three games in the series.

The JetHawks (21-24), who have struggled to score runs during the slump, scored three times in the first inning, and reliever Tom Szimanski made the runs hold up by striking out the final three hitters of the game with two runners on base.

Starter Brett Hinchliffe (4-3) pitched seven innings, giving up four hits and two runs and striking out a season-high nine. He snapped a personal three-game losing streak.
