Dorsey’s Clarence Scott had a disappointing end to his high school career. The defending state champion in the long jump, Scott pulled a muscle in his lower right leg while running a qualifying heat in the 400-meter relay at the state meet last Friday. He was not able to finish his qualifying flight of the long jump and also had to drop out of the 100 and 200 meters. If his leg heals in time, he plans to run at the junior nationals in Columbus, Ohio, later this month. . . . Two-time defending state champion Julia Stamps of Santa Rosa finished second at the state meet in her specialty, the 3,200 meters. Stamps, who missed a month of training this season after suffering from a lack of sodium and potassium, lost to Kim Mortensen of Thousand Oaks, who established a meet record time of 9:52.80. . . . Sprinter Obea Moore of Pasadena Muir, who helped lead his team to its third consecutive state title, will compete at the Golden West Invitational on Saturday at American River College in Sacramento. Moore said he will run the 200 and 400. . . . The state meet had a two-day combined attendance of 19,511, the largest crowd in the past decade. The meet will move to Sacramento next year at a site to be determined and will return to Cerritos College in 1998.
