Arson Fire Damages Thousand Oaks Theater
An arson blaze caused about $30,000 worth of damage Sunday to a theater in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.
The fire at the Conejo Players’ theater, 351 S. Moorpark Road, was reported at 5:05 a.m., said a spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
It was controlled about 45 minutes later, and crews remained on the scene for the next three hours mopping up.
Investigators found two apparent “hot spots,” or possible sources of the blaze, the spokeswoman said--one in a chair and one on a couch.
“The sprinklers kept the fire from getting to the back where the props are,” she said.
Damage to the building was about $25,000. The damage to the contents was estimated at $5,000, authorities said.
