Everything’s Not Coming Up Roses
I found it quite unsettling to hear that the Pac-10 and the Tournament of Roses committee gave up all sense of loyalty by joining this so-called “super alliance.”
It was my hopeful understanding that the officials of these two groups knew of the importance of holding onto some athletic traditions. Unfortunately for those of us who care about sustaining the Rose Bowl’s uniqueness, it is all too clear that the individuals who care the least about the tradition of “The Granddaddy of Them All” have the most influence and hot air. These turncoats are more self-centered than I realized. They understand only the bottom line and not the scrimmage line.
