Mavericks Start Fast, Coast to 12-3 Win
Even with their ace on the mound, the JetHawks gave up double-digit runs for the second consecutive game, losing 12-3 to the High Desert Mavericks before 4,590 at the Hangar.
Ken Cloude (13-4), gave up 10 runs and nine hits in two-plus innings. The Mavericks’ Chris Kirgan, who leads the Cal League with 28 home runs, hit a two-run shot in the first inning and a three-run homer in the second, as High Desert bolted to a 10-2 lead when Cloude was pulled four batters into the third.
The Mavericks took an early 10-0 lead on their way to a 15-4 victory on Saturday.
The JetHawks (23-27) had only six hits in five innings against Maverick starter Greg Dean and no hits in four innings against relievers Matt Marenghi and Dalton Maine.
