Monterrey Rolls Past the Splash, 13-6

The Splash gave up seven consecutive goals for the second game in a row and lost to Monterrey, 13-6, in a Continental Indoor Soccer League match Sunday in Monterrey.

The score was tied, 2-2, midway in the first quarter when Monterrey took control, scoring twice more in that quarter and three times in the second to lead at the break, 7-2.

Dale Ervine scored with less than a minute left in the third quarter to cut the lead to 9-3.

Ervine scored again early in the fourth quarter to give him 29 goals this season and 399 in his career. Bernie Lilavois also had two goals for the Splash.

The Splash (9-8), coming off an 8-3 loss in Houston Saturday, has lost four of its last six road games, dropping its to 5-5 on the road this season.

David Pereyra had four goals, including three in the seven-goal run, for Monterrey (11-8). The teams meet again next Sunday at the Pond of Anaheim.
