Victim Aid Program Seeking Volunteers

Share

The Victim Services Division of the Ventura County district attorney’s office is looking for volunteers for its victims’ advocate program.

Volunteers will receive training on crisis intervention, advocacy, domestic violence or sexual assault and filing temporary restraining orders. After training, they would also work with victims to keep them informed about new court dates, provide relevant information and check up on them.

The victim services program has been training and using volunteers for almost 20 years. There are currently 10 working in Simi Valley and 15 to 20 working at the Ventura courts.

Director of Victim Services Debbie O’Neill hopes to recruit an additional 10 volunteers for this year’s training session, which begins Oct. 16. O’Neill said she is particularly interested in bilingual volunteers.

If interested, call the Victim Services Division at 654-3622.
