A pizza deliveryman had his car stolen Thursday night while he was out making deliveries, authorities said.

At about 8:50 p.m., Ventura police responded to a call about an auto theft at Bell Way and Ventura Avenue. The victim was an unidentified deliveryman from Hungry Howie’s Pizza on Thompson Boulevard who had left his car to take pizza to someone’s door.

The man’s white 1986 Nissan Sentra was taken for a ride south on the Avenue before being abandoned two blocks away, at Center and Olive streets, a short time later, authorities said.

“This is the first time something like this has happened here,” said Chris Schabb, an employee at the pizza shop, which opened in February.
