Canyon Gets the Maximum Out of Its Scotts

Canyon unleashed its Great Scott offense with maximum results Thursday night, defeating visiting El Dorado, 26-7, at El Modena High.

Chad Scott caught two touchdown passes from identical twin brother Craig Scott, and Scott Walker made two field goals and two extra points for the Comanches.

Craig Scott completed eight of 16 passes for 101 yards. Brother Chad caught five for 86 yards. Chad Scott also had two interceptions.

The first interception set up Walker’s first field goal, a 34-yarder with 5 minutes 35 seconds left in the first quarter.

Chad Scott’s first reception was for a 13-yard touchdown with 9:10 left in the second quarter.

El Dorado scored its only touchdown of the game on a five-yard run by Steve Warfield. Backup quarterback Mike Derisio completed a 43-yard pass to Byron Davis, to highlight the 81-yard drive.

The Scott-to-Scott combination connected again for a four-yard touchdown with 41 seconds left in the first half to increase the Canyon lead to 17-7.

Viet Ho returned an interception 78 yards for a Canyon touchdown with 5:43 left in the third quarter but a penalty for excessive celebration forced Walker to attempt a35-yard conversion that failed.

Walker made a 20-yard field goal with 1:40 left in the third quarter to complete the scoring.
