Ohio State convinced another top Orange County prep quarterback to leave home. The latest to commit to the Buckeyes is Austin Moherman of Capistrano Valley.

“I used to live [in Ohio] and all my family is there, and as far as a school goes it can’t get much better than Ohio State,” Moherman said Tuesday. “The tradition of the program, 90,000 fans at the games, all the players they’ve put in the NFL. I just like everything about it.”

Brethren Christian quarterback David Priestley committed to Ohio State last week. Moherman, who said he made an unofficial recruiting trip to Columbus two weeks ago with his father, looks forward to the competition.

“We’ll just have to see what happens when we get there,” Moherman said. “I’m ready.”

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Moherman played in six games last season after transferring from Los Angeles Wilson. Moherman, who passed for 1,350 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, passed for 149 yards and two touchdowns in a season-opening victory for the Cougars.
