With a loud, pro-Palos Verdes Peninsula crowd nearby, Godbey fell behind, 4-0 and 5-1, in her first set before rallying to win, 7-6, in a tiebreaker. Her next set also reached a tiebreaker, in which she trailed, 3-0, before winning. She won her third set 6-2, leading the Sailors to a 13-5 victory that stopped Peninsula’s 120-match winning streak.
