Ocean View Scores Early to Top Century

Two touchdowns in the opening seconds of the game helped Ocean View roll to a 48-25 nonleague victory over Century on Friday night at Westminster High.

The Seahawks’ Jeremiah Armendariz opened the game with an 88-yard kickoff return. Century then fumbled on its first play and linebacker Christian Acosta got the ball and ran it 35 yards to give Ocean View a 14-0 lead with 11 minutes 45 seconds left in the first quarter.

Century (1-2) scored on a two-yard run by Gustavo Gonzalez with 3:49 left in the first quarter but the Seahawks (1-2) scored three consecutive touchdowns, one on a two-yard run by Armendariz and another on a five-yard bootleg by quarterback Jeff Taylor. The third was a five-yard touchdown pass from Taylor to wide receiver David Hatch.

The Centurions got back in the game, scoring three touchdowns, their last a three-yard pass from Cesar Perez to running back Kitwana Freeman to end the first half.

The second half opened with a 19-yard run by Gonzalez for his second touchdown and a 15-yard pass from Perez to wide receiver Jose Serratos.

Ocean View sealed the game with Taylor scoring on an 18-yard run on a busted play with 7:53 left in the game. The last score came on a 27-yard pass from Taylor to Lealand Washington with 2:30 left.
