Latest Shutout Comes Easily for Ventura’s Bailey

Ventura College remained undefeated in Western State Conference play Tuesday and goalkeeper Lori Bailey posted her fifth shutout in a 6-0 women’s soccer victory over Santa Barbara at Ventura.
Bailey had to make only one save. Joy Barry and Allyson Munday each scored twice for the Pirates (7-1, 3-0). Santa Barbara is 0-1-2 in the conference.
MEN’S SOCCER
Moorpark 2, Orange Coast 2--Brody Trejos and Arron Bettendorf scored for the Raiders (3-0-3) in a nonconference match at Moorpark.
Moorpark led, 2-1, at halftime, but played the second half without stopper Steve Walden, who was ejected. Orange Coast (1-4-2) scored in the 86th minute.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Westlake 11, Simi Valley 7--Helena Horak and Erin Smith swept their singles sets and the No. 1 doubles team of Jennifer Azevedo and Brittany Jensky took three sets as the Warriors (4-0, 3-0) beat Simi Valley (5-1, 2-1) in a Marmonte League match at Rancho Simi Community Park.
Burroughs 18, Saugus 0--Christian Irinco boosted her record to 20-1 in No. 1 singles this season as the Indians (7-1) won a Foothill League match.
Granada Hills 7, Monroe 0--Michelle Heiser, Reina Kobayashi and Karen Fung won in singles by 8-0 scores in a nonconference match at Granada Hills (3-0).
Harvard-Westlake 18, Bishop Montgomery 0--Lindsy Forbess swept three sets at No. 1 singles for the Wolverines (4-2, 2-1) in a Mission League match at Bishop Montgomery (1-2, 1-2).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Village Christian d. Hart, 11-15, 8-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-12--The Crusaders overcame an 11-8 deficit in the fifth game to post one of their biggest nonleague victories this decade.
Sara Fristad had 15 kills and nine aces for Village Christian (4-1). Errin Bennish had eight aces and 11 blocks. Stephanie Dolbier and 31 assists.
Hart (4-1) is ranked No. 8 in Division I-A by the Southern Section. Village Christian is unranked in Division IV-A.
Kennedy d. Monroe, 15-3, 15-8, 15-3--Stephanie Ong has 21 assists and four service aces and Kristian Ongoco added 11 kills for the Golden Cougars (3-0).
Notre Dame d. Van Nuys 15-7, 7-15, 13-15, 15-8, 15-12--Cathryn Martin had 20 kills and nine digs for the Knights (4-1) and sophomore Nevada Blonstein added 16 kills and six digs in the intersectional match at Notre Dame.
The Wolves (2-1) were led by Sharon Foster’s 20 kills, four aces, and 15 blocks. Angela Eckmier added 15 kills, 10 blocks, five aces and nine digs.
Camarillo d. Newbury Park, 15-10, 15-12, 15-12--Kasey Jungwirth had 12 kills, Denelle Arnold had nine and Cindy Ball added five for the Scorpions (4-1, 2-1) in a Marmonte League match at Camarillo.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Cal Lutheran d. La Verne, 13-15, 10-15, 15-3, 15-3, 15-6--Senior Tracy Little had 18 kills and a school-record 34 digs for the Regals (7-2, 3-0) in their 16th consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.
Junior Liz Martinez had 13 kills and a .625 attack percentage, and added 56 assists and 15 digs for Cal Lutheran.
