Cabrera, Mesta Lead Mission to Soccer Win

Carlos Cabrera had two goals and an assist and Luis Mesta had a goal and two assists as Mission College defeated Taft, 5-1, Wednesday in a men’s soccer match at Pierce College.
Cabrera and Mesta scored to give the Free Spirit (5-3-4) a 2-0 halftime lead. Cabrera has seven goals and eight assists and Mesta has 16 goals and seven assists.
Mission goalkeeper Diego Valencia stopped four shots. Mark Nord made 13 saves for Taft (4-3).
WOMEN’S SOCCER
CS Northridge 4, Azusa Pacific 1--Amy Gill scored twice and Rhiannon Clow and Heather Schou also scored for the Matadors (3-8-1) at Northridge.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Campbell Hall 16, Marshall 2--Maya Shammas and Faith Scher swept three doubles sets for the Vikings (5-2) at Campbell Hall.
Simi Valley 14, Quartz Hill 4--Mindy Gondrez swept her matches at No. 1 singles and the Pioneers’ doubles teams did not lose a game as Simi Valley (6-1) beat the Rebels (8-1) at Simi Valley.
Nordhoff 9, Villanova 9--Games were tied, 74-74, so the Rangers (4-3) won on tiebreaker points, 14-4. The tiebreakers were played in doubles, Nicki Dedrick and Rachel Moyers defeating Courtney Frystak and Kazuko Hatta, 7-6 (7-1), and Brianna Blum and Leah Kroener beating LuAnne Mueller and Karla Sonnek, 7-6 (7-3).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Calabasas d. Crossroads, 16-14, 15-11, 15-1--Brooke Niles had 17 kills and Melissa Zbriger had 22 assists for Calabasas (6-2). Casey Jenner had 12 kills for Crossroads.
