With his team beaten up and bruised, Foothill football Coach Tom Meiss was just looking for a way to get through another week.

Troy showed him the way Thursday.

With four touchdown passes from quarterback Tyler Lang and 141 yards on the ground from tailback Franklin Haynes, the Knights rolled to a 35-7 nonleague victory at Fullerton High.

“We haven’t had a game yet to put our entire team on the field,” Meiss said. He didn’t need to worry about that Thursday.

After a promising start--running back Kyion Grayes ran 68 yards for a touchdown on the Warriors’ third play of the game--Troy went flat. Quarterback Matt Dolan completed one of three passes for five yards and, despite being down by as many as 28 points in the second half, Coach John Turek had Dolan attempt only one pass in the final 18 minutes. The game ended with Troy, after a drive from its 29 to the Foothill 14, failing to get off a play as the clock ran out.

Foothill (2-2) gained 432 yards, with Lang completing 15 of 24 passes for 174. Meiss used seven running backs.

Foothill drove 75 yards for a touchdown in 11 plays after the opening kickoff. Lang passed 14 yards to Chad Concalino for the touchdown with 6 minutes 38 seconds left in the first quarter.

Troy (1-3) responded with Grayes’ long run that tied the score, but it was all Foothill after that.

Foothill capitalized on a Troy fumble at its 46-yard line early in the second half for its second touchdown. Lang took 10 plays to move the Knights to the Troy six, then hooked up with Matthew Hall on a four-yard touchdown pass with 4:57 left in the half.

Troy moved to the Knights’ 25, but the drive stalled and Foothill came right back. A 22-yard run by Haynes and several key pass completions by Lang highlighted the 77-yard drive, which ended when Lang threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Hall 11 seconds before halftime.

Lang’s fourth touchdown pass came in the third quarter when he hit running back Jason Poston with a 23-yard fly pattern down the middle.
