Saddleback 38, Corona del Mar 7--Joseph Tagaloa scored four touchdowns as Saddleback defeated Corona del Mar (2-2) in a nonleague game. Tagaloa scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 77-yard interception return with 6:32 left in the first quarter. Tagaloa also scored in the quarter on a 25-yard run.

Juan Lomeli caught a 28-yard pass from Juan Cabral to give Saddleback (2-2) a 21-0 lead.

Late in the second quarter, Tagaloa again intercepted a pass for a touchdown, this time on a 38-yard return. Tagaloa scored once more in the third quarter on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Cabral.

Corona del Mar’s Mike McClellan completed 12 of 31 passes for 167 yards and was intercepted three times.

Whittier La Serna 41, Brethren Christian 25--Whittier La Serna had more than 440 yards of total offense as the Lancers spoiled the home opener for Brethren Christian.

La Serna opened the scoring with 9:38 left in the first quarter when Ryan Mele caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Max Wood. The extra-point attempt failed and the Lancers led, 6-0. Five minutes later, Dan Muilenburg scored from one yard to put Brethren Christian (1-2) ahead, 7-6.

Woods went to the air again for another touchdown, this time 57 yards to Tyler Flanders with 3:46 left in the quarter. Tom Nordbak caught the two-point conversion pass from Woods and La Serna led, 14-7.

On the third play of the second quarter, Kain Gallaugher scored on a five-yard run to increase La Serna’s lead to 21-7.

With 58 seconds left in the half, Mele caught a 14-yard touchdown pass and the Lancers had built a 20-point lead.

Darren Janczak kicked a 32-yard field goal on the last play of the half and La Serna (2-2 ) led, 27-10.

On the opening drive of the third quarter, Eric Jensen caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from David Priestley to make the score 27-17.

With the score, 35-17, Rob Dejong returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 12.

A.J. Castillo led the Warriors with 108 rushing yards.
