SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Tustin amassed 577 yards of total offense and had three running backs rush for more than 100 yards, led by DeShaun Foster’s 175, in a 42-0 nonleague victory over Canyon at Tustin High Friday.

The victory gave Tustin a perfect 5-0 nonleague record.

Canyon (3-2) rested at least five starting players, including key offensive standouts such as quarterback Craig Scott, wide receiver Chad Scott and wide receiver Jermaine Montgomery. Scott said the coaches wanted to save them for Century League play.

As a result, the Comanche offense suffered, gaining a total of 46 yards, including 30 yards passing on four completions in five attempts by backup quarterback Mike Del Mazzio.

Canyon’s defense did not fare much better as the Tillers amassed 482 yards rushing and five touchdowns and quarterback Todd Scott completed five of 10 passes for 95 yards and a score.

Foster scored twice--both in the third quarter--despite playing on a bruised right toe. He had a 45-yard touchdown run and caught a pass for a 30-yard touchdown to give Tustin a 35-0 lead.

Tustin senior Dominique Degrammont may have moved up on the depth chart after he rushed for 162 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 60 and 42 yards on only six carries.

“I saw the biggest holes I’d ever seen,” Degrammont said of his offensive line’s blocking on the 42-yard score which came with 2 minutes 48 seconds left in the first half for a 21-0 lead.

Brandon Lambert had 119 yards on 11 carries and he scored two first-quarter touchdowns on runs of eight and 22 yards.

Tustin wide receiver Julius Williams had two receptions for 48 yards. Both catches set up Tiller touchdowns.
