The Royal High water polo team faces its biggest hurdle in its quest for a 16th consecutive Marmonte League championship when it plays host to Agoura today at 3:15 p.m. at Rancho Simi Community Pool. Both teams are 2-0 in league and 13-5 overall.

Agoura, ranked No. 7 in the Southern Section Division IV, is the last Marmonte League team to defeat Royal in league play--a 12-11 victory in 1994--but the No. 2-ranked Highlanders, who have won 16 consecutive league matches, have not lost a Marmonte match at home in 10 years.

Water polo: At 3 p.m., Bell Garden at Burroughs. At 3:15 p.m., Westlake at Newbury Park, Agoura at Royal, Calabasas at Villanova, Notre Dame at Glendale. At 3:30 p.m., Crescenta Valley at La Serna. At 6:15 p.m., Thousand Oaks at La Canada.

College events in the region today include:

Women’s soccer: At 2 p.m., Bakersfield at Moorpark. At 3 p.m., Santa Monica at Glendale. At 4 p.m., Ventura at Oxnard.

Men’s soccer: At 4 p.m., Oxnard at Moorpark, Hancock vs. Mission at Pierce College.

Women’s volleyball: At 7 p.m., Pierce at Moorpark, Canyons at Ventura.
