After scoring a combined 12 points in his last three games, Loy Vaught had 14 points and nine rebounds as the Clippers lost for the fourth time in five exhibitions, 98-94, to the Sacramento Kings before an announced crowd of 5,084 at the Sports Arena.
“Loy has been consistently bad [in the last three games] since we left Detroit until tonight,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said. “Tonight was more like the Vaught we expect to see when the starting gate opens.”

Fred Slaughter, the agent for free agent center Brian Williams, said there has no progress in negotiations with the Clippers. . . . Fitch said that the center play has been atrocious. Dwayne Schintzius, who twisted his right ankle in a practice on Oct. 6, has made only five of 29 shots in five exhibitions. He missed five of six shots against the Kings. . . . Kevin Duckworth, signed by the Clippers on Oct. 10, isn’t fit, but he hustles. Duckworth had six points and four rebounds in 28 minutes as a reserve against the Kings.
