Gardner, from Haskill (Okla.) High, started slowly for the Hornets this season. He had 66 yards in 16 carries after the first two games. But he has since started to generate totals closer to what he did as a high school senior, when he rushed for more than 1,000 yards. He had 147 yards in 20 carries and scored on touchdown runs of four, six and 16 yards last Saturday as Fullerton beat Orange Coast, 39-33. He has rushed for more than 100 yards for two consecutive games and has 360 yards this season.
