St. Bonaventure 16, Carpinteria 16--St. Bonaventure held on for the tie when Carpinteria’s German Sotelo missed wide left on a 39-yard field goal attempt with five seconds remaining in the game.

Teohua Sanchez led the visiting Seraphs (6-1-1, 2-0-1) by completing 18 of 27 passes for 200 yards. However, he threw three interceptions.

St. Bonaventure’s defense was unable to plug the hole left by standout lineman David Bernal, who was suspended last week for fighting. Carpinteria (2-5-1, 0-1-1) rushed for 263 yards, including 150 in 26 carries by Douglas Burrell.

Andrew Pinedo scored on a one-yard midway through the fourth quarter to give St. Bonaventure a 16-9 lead, but Carpinteria came back on its next possession when Burrell scored on an 18-yard run with 1:05 remaining.

Sanchez threw an interception by Jeremy Lash on the next play from scrimmage, setting up Sotelo’s field goal attempt.
