The Buena High water polo team travels to Santa Maria today to face Righetti at 3:15 p.m. in a rare first-round Southern Section Division IV playoff matchup between first-place teams.

Teams that finish first usually play a third-place team, but Buena finished in a three-way tie for first in the Channel League. The Bulldogs lost a coin-flip and had to take the tougher seeding. Righetti is the Northern League champion.

College events today include:

Men’s soccer: At 3 p.m., Oxnard at Glendale.

Women’s soccer: At 3 p.m., Santa Monica at Moorpark, Bakersfield at Oxnard.

Women’s volleyball: First-round Division III playoffs at 5 p.m., Pomona Pitzer vs. Cal Lutheran at UC San Diego. At 7 p.m., Santa Clara at Pepperdine, Pierce at Glendale, Santa Monica at Moorpark, Bakersfield at Canyons.
