Bishop Diego 14, Santa Paula 13--The Cardinals (6-5) scored a touchdown with 1:45 to play to pull within one point of favored Bishop Diego (9-1-1), but they ran the same play on a two-point conversion attempt and failed.

Willie Zavala overthrew Aaron Pettitt, who he had connected with on both of Santa Paula’s touchdowns.

Pettitt gained 65 yards in 12 carries and had six receptions for 44 yards.

Zavala completed 11 of 27 passes for 121 yards and threw two interceptions.

Bishop Diego quarterback Rand Holdren, despite a second-quarter injury, completed 11 of 18 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown.

Orange Lutheran 35, Moorpark 0--Orange Lutheran overpowered its opponents throughout the regular season and was rewarded by being seeded second in the playoffs.

Moorpark struggled throughout the season and needed an at-large berth to reach postseason play. So opening the playoffs against Orange Lutheran wasn’t the best-case scenario for Moorpark.

Receiver Mike Crawford paced Orange Lutheran with six catches for 98 yards and three touchdowns. He had touchdown receptions of 15 and 23 yards in the second quarter from quarterback Nick Odenath, helping Orange Lutheran take a 14-0 halftime lead.
