Palmdale 70, Chatsworth 53--Markus Carr had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Kerry Yates added 18 for the Falcons (1-0), who pulled away in the second half.

Chaminade 66, Littlerock 42--Brett Brownson scored 15 points and Kevin Frame added 14 for the Eagles (1-0).

Frame had 12 of his points on three-point shots in the first half, when Chaminade made eight of 14 three-pointers.

El Camino Real 75, Santa Barbara 57--Elan Buller had 25 points for the Conquistadores (1-0) and Justin Saad added 18 at Camarillo High.

Granada Hills 72, Camarillo 64--Dory Daoud had 19 points, making seven of eight shots from the field, and Leon Pimky added 17 points for the Highlanders at Camarillo.

Justin Beach had 26 points for Camarillo, making nine free throws without a miss.

In a nonleague game:

L.A. Baptist 67, Whittier Christian 65--Ara Veney, who scored six points, hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to give the visiting Knights the victory in the season opener.

Jermaine Sweet led L.A. Baptist with 26 points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 75, Granada Hills 24--Michelle Greco had 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals to lead the Falcons (1-0) in a first-round game of their tournament.

North Hollywood 65, Santa Monica 56--Sophomore guard Tashean Thomas had 28 points and five steals for the Huskies in a first-round game of the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Van Nuys 49, Chatsworth 46--Rosaria Leone had 19 points for the Wolves (2-1) at Van Nuys.

Monroe 56, Marshall 51--Shirlee Low had 17 points and six steals and the Vikings (1-0) won a first-round game in the Eagle Rock tournament.

L.A. Baptist 47, Oak Park 44--Deanna Bergeson had 32 points and 16 rebounds but the Knights (1-0) needed Sarah Marky’s two free throws with 18 seconds to beat the Eagles at L.A. Baptist.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Cal Lutheran 76, Westmont 62--Christian Dunbar had 18 points and seven assists for the Kingsmen (4-0) in the nonconference victory at Westmont (4-3).

Brian Capella added 18 points, making nine of 13 shots. He also had five assists for Cal Lutheran.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Fresno State 51, CS Northridge 46--Maya Muzurovic’s 10 points and 11 rebounds were not enough for the Matadors (1-3) in a nonconference game at home.

Lori Brown had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (3-0).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Birmingham 2, Chatsworth 1--Andres Cruz scored the winning goal for the Braves with two minutes to play in the first half of a Northwest Valley Conference opener at Birmingham.

Walter Aparicio scored for Birmingham in the 21st minute.

Kennedy 2, San Fernando 0--Carlos Perez scored goals at the 18- and 33-minute mark for the Golden Cougars at San Fernando.

Taft 3, Granada Hills 3--Cesar Pouzeaud scored three goals for the Toreadors and Andres Zalis, Johann Perez and Jonpaul Roepke scored for the Highlanders at Granada Hills.

Cleveland 1, El Camino Real 1--Oscar Garcia scored for the Cavaliers with 10 minutes remaining in the first half at El Camino Real.

La Canada 2, Muir 1--Chris Cuellar and Eric Henderson scored as the Spartans won their 51st consecutive match.
