Los Alamitos Edges Granada Hills Kennedy

Forward Christa Ellis scored 11 points and had nine rebounds as Los Alamitos defeated Granada Hills Kennedy, 40-37, in the semifinals of the Los Angeles Washington girls’ basketball tournament Tuesday at Washington High.
The Griffins (2-0) play the City Section’s top-ranked girls’ team, Washington, today in the championship game.
Kennedy, ranked fifth in the City Section, outplayed Los Alamitos and led at halftime, 15-11.
But in the second half, the Griffins got the ball inside to Ellis and center Kristin Geoffroy. Los Alamitos took the lead by the end of the third quarter, outscoring Kennedy, 17-11.
Geoffroy finished with nine points.
