Irvine Valley Men Advance to Semifinals
Irvine Valley shot 58% from the field and advanced to the semifinals by defeating Golden West, 84-61, in a second-round game Thursday in the Riverside men’s basketball tournament at Riverside College.
Darryl Todd had 15 points and 11 rebounds and J.C. Timmons added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Lasers (7-3), who advanced to play Los Angeles City in today’s semifinals.
Jermaine Moore had 16 points and five assists and Ray Jimmerson added 16 points for Golden West (4-4), which shot only 42% from the field. Irvine Valley outrebounded Golden West, 45-18.
In a consolation game:
Cerro Coso 78, Fullerton 72--Jeff Luszeck scored 16 points and Sterling Rachal had 14 points and seven rebounds for Fullerton (3-7), which shot 57% from the field but committed 25 turnovers.
In the Los Angeles Valley women’s basketball tournament:
Mt. San Antonio 82, Cypress 57--Jeanine Shaw scored 20 points for the Chargers (7-4), who trailed by 20 points at halftime.
