Repairs on 56 Streets to Start in ’97
All 56 streets south of Orangewood Avenue in the southern portion of the city will undergo repairs, beginning early next year.
All American Asphalt of Corona won unanimous City Council approval this week to handle the work. The company submitted the low bid of $275,613.
City Public Works Director Mark Christoffels said some streets will get “overlay” work, consisting of removal and replacement of deteriorated sections with new asphalt. Other streets will get either a slurry seal or seal coat application.
Streets scheduled for overlay work: Orangewood, Midway, Rabaul, Wake, Bataan, Bikini, Cozumel, Leyte, Malden, Mindanao, Mono Kai, part of Noumea, Palawan, Palau, Pitcairn, Saipan, Talaud, Tokelau, Tulagi, Yap, Leilani, Luau, Sarco, Tahiti and Tiki.
Streets slated to be slurry sealed: Apia Drive, Blackmer, Fiji, Guam, Java, Lakia, Manila, part of Noumea, Paradise, Samoa, Suva, Truk, Luzon, Nauru, Savaii, Tonga, Chamois, Halawa, Kiwi, Molokai, New Zealand, Sambar, and Timaru.
Streets set to be seal coated: Onyx, Biak, Jaluit, Panay, Reefton, Scandia, Tarawa and Ulithi.
