Pepperdine completes nonconference play in the Wisconsin-Green Bay tournament. Austin Peay (2-7) and St. Joseph’s (3-3) meet in today’s first game. Pepperdine snapped a seven-game losing streak Friday night with a 77-59 victory over Division II Cal State Hayward. Coach Lorenzo Romar hopes the Waves can continue to build momentum before the start of West Coast Conference play Jan. 10. Romar started a new backcourt of Tezale Archie and Khary Hervey against Hayward, replacing Marques Johnson and R.J. Powell, who did not play Friday because of back spasms. Pepperdine center Bryan Hill is averaging a team-leading 14.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. Wisconsin-Green Bay has lost three consecutive games. The Phoenix lost four starters from last season’s 25-4 team that earned a third consecutive NCAA tournament berth. The team starts two freshmen and one sophomore--6-foot-11 center Matt Hill, averaging a team-high 10.3 points.
