Dominique Again Powers Nevada Past Pepperdine
For the second day in a row, former Alemany High standout Andy Dominique provided the muscle for Nevada to defeat Pepperdine in baseball.
Dominique hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give right-hander Jim Brink the runs he needed in a 3-0 victory Saturday at Pepperdine. Dominique, a senior third baseman, belted two homers and drove in five runs Friday in Nevada’s 8-6 victory.
The Waves (0-2) managed only five hits--all singles--against Brink and Ryan Church, who notched his first save by pitching the ninth.
Pepperdine right-hander Andy Shibilo pitched four innings and James Melcher, a left-hander from Buena High, allowed one run in five innings of relief.
