Hearn Earns a Spot in Hall of Fame
Laker broadcaster Chick Hearn is the 1997 Hall of Fame inductee of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Assn.
Hearn and veteran St. Louis sportswriter Bob Broeg will be honored at the NSSA awards dinner April 28 in Salisbury, N.C.
Times columnist Mike Downey was voted California Sportswriter of the Year for the eighth time, and Hearn was the state’s top sportscaster.
National winners were Rick Reilly of Sports Illustrated and Chris Berman of ESPN.
