The region’s two Division I men’s volleyball...

The region’s two Division I men’s volleyball teams meet at 7 tonight when Pepperdine and Cal State Northridge play in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Northridge.

Pepperdine (3-2, 2-1 in conference play) is ranked fifth by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after last week’s four-game upset of 1996 NCAA Division I runner-up Hawaii. Northridge (5-2, 3-2) is coming off a victory over UC Irvine and is ranked 12th nationally.

The Waves are led by outside hitters George Roumain and former Pierce College standout Kevin Barnett. Northridge’s attack is sparked by Collin Smith, Chad Strickland and Jason Hughes, who returned last week after being academically ineligible.
