A 69-year-old Fountain Valley man died Friday morning after he lost control of his car and hit an occupied car parked on the roadside, police said.

Nhan Vu was headed east on Edinger Avenue at about 10:05 a.m. when he lost control of his 1986 Nissan Maxima for an unknown reason, said Fountain Valley Police Lt. Larry Griswold.

Just east of Ward Street, Vu’s car swerved to the right, crossing another eastbound lane before hitting a 1987 Toyota Tercel in a roadside parking space, Griswold said. The impact pushed the Tercel into a parked, unoccupied 1987 Renault Alliance, he said.

Vu was conscious at the scene but died of his injuries about 11:05 a.m. at UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.

Both occupants of the Tercel were taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.

The driver, 21-year-old Francisco Aguayo of Los Angeles, and his passenger, Aurelia Salgado, 17, of Stanton, were treated and released Friday, said hospital spokeswoman Kathleen O’Brien.
