Fouchey Helps Oxnard to Fifth Straight Victory

Oxnard High is four games out of first place in the Channel League standings with two games to play, but the Yellowjackets are hotter than any other team.

Led by Jeff Fouchey’s 20 points, Oxnard defeated host Hueneme, 66-53, Friday for its fifth consecutive victory.

Desmond Davis and Chris O’Brien each scored 14 points for the Yellowjackets (12-9, 6-6 in league play).

Rio Mesa 67, Ventura 54--Tyrone Nunnery scored 24 points and Scott Fujita had 10 points and 10 rebounds to help the host Spartans (16-5, 10-2) remain tied for first place with Dos Pueblos in the Channel League.

Santa Clara 60, Nordhoff 47--Nick Jones had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints (15-4, 8-0) in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara.

The Saints, ranked No. 8 in the region, clinched at least a tie for their 13th consecutive league title, with two games remaining.

Santa Paula 79, Malibu 60--Josh Jimenez scored 28 points and Anthony Hernandez had 17 for the Cardinals (15-7, 6-2) in a Frontier League game at Malibu.

Moorpark 67, Calabasas 51--Kalani Ferreria scored 16 points for the Musketeers (17-8, 5-3) in a Frontier League game at Moorpark.

Bell-Jeff 70, Cathedral 59--Ruben Douglas had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Mike West had 18 points and 18 rebounds for the Guards (18-6, 10-0) in a Santa Fe League game at Bell-Jeff.

Crespi 55, Notre Dame 52--Kevin McDonough made two free throws with 11 seconds to play and stole the ball with two seconds remaining to help the Celts (9-14, 5-6) in a Mission League game at Notre Dame.

Poly 68, Reseda 54--Eric Owens scored 16 points for the Parrots (16-6, 7-1), ranked No. 7 in the region, in a Mid-Valley League game at Reseda.

Jamaal Washington led Reseda (0-18, 0-8) with 15 points.

Sylmar 53, Van Nuys 48--Robert Valentine scored 14 points for the Spartans (12-9, 6-2), who won the Mid-Valley League game in overtime at Van Nuys.

North Hollywood 63, Grant 39--Keron Wilkerson scored 24 points for the host Huskies (10-11, 4-4) in an East Valley League game.

Gilbert Arenas led the Lancers with 16 points.

Birmingham 78, El Camino Real 60--Ed Maldur had a season-high 23 points for the Braves (17-6, 7-1) in a North Valley League game at El Camino Real.

Elan Buller scored 22 points for the Conquistadores.

Granada Hills 54, San Fernando 45--Desmond Williams had 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for the Highlanders (13-9, 5-3) in a North Valley League game at Granada Hills.

Taft 80, Chatsworth 64--Brandyn Fisher scored 29 points for the Toreadors (14-8, 4-4) in a North Valley League game at Chatsworth.

Burbank 76, Saugus 51--Juni Williams scored 25 points for the Bulldogs (13-9, 5-3) in a Foothill League game at Burbank.

Hart 71, Valencia 62--Cory Johnson scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Indians (19-5, 8-0), who clinched the Foothill League title.

Eskias McDaniels scored 14 points for Valencia (13-9, 2-6).

Channel Islands 80, Westlake 65--Charles Merricks had 21 points and seven rebounds and Val Blue added 16 points for the Raiders (17-5, 7-5) in a Marmonte League game against host Westlake (11-12, 4-8).

The Warriors were led by Jake Stewart with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Joey Cuppari scored 14 points.

Simi Valley 65, Agoura 55--Branduinn Fullove scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter for the Pioneers (19-3, 9-3) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Rafael Berumen had 28 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks for Simi Valley.

Newbury Park 72, Camarillo 62--Daniel Bobik had 20 points, and Jim Newton had 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Panthers (15-8, 9-3) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.

Hoover 72, Glendale 68--Mark Hull scored 28 points and Andy Russell had 20 points and 17 rebounds for the Tornadoes (10-12, 5-3) in a Pacific League game.

Palmdale 68, Littlerock 43--Markus Carr had 21 points, eight assists and seven steals for the Falcons (15-8, 5-1) in a Golden League game.

Phil Langford had 23 points for the host Lobos.
