Aimee Thompson had eight goals and seven assists and set four school records Wednesday, leading La Reina High to a 20-0 victory over Carpinteria in a Tri-Valley League girls’ soccer match in Thousand Oaks.

Thompson set records for goals and assists in a match and in a season.

She has 39 goals and 30 assists this season.

Regent Coach Joe Laraneta said he felt “terrible” about the margin of victory but offered no excuses.

“I can’t ask the girls not to shoot,” said Laraneta, La Reina’s coach since 1983.

“I ask them to pass it around a lot but are you going to do that for 80 minutes? I tell my girls to be nice to the other team after the game.”
