Orange Tops El Dorado in Two OTs
Brian Krauss made five three-point baskets in the second half, including three in the fourth quarter, to rally Orange from a 10-point halftime deficit as the host Panthers defeated El Dorado, 58-54, in double overtime Friday in a first-round game of the Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs.
Krauss, who finished with 31 points, scored six points during the overtimes, including two free throws to clinch the victory for Orange (19-6), which will play Cypress in Tuesday’s second round. El Dorado finishes 19-8.
In other games:
Cypress 74, Los Amigos 45--Wes Bunn and Travis Weaver each scored 15 points to lead Cypress (19-8). Bunn added eight assists and Chris Heil scored 11 points and had seven rebounds for Cypress. Los Amigos finishes 13-13.
Katella 66, Canyon 56--Joe Barraza scored 16 of his 28 points in the second half, including 12 in the fourth quarter, for Katella (20-6), which meets Woodbridge Tuesday.
Woodbridge 79, Loara 52--Chris Burgess scored 22, had 12 rebounds and eight blocks to lead top-seeded Woodbridge (23-3).
Villa Park 60, North Torrance 35--Eric Chenowith had 18 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks for third-seeded Villa Park (22-4), which plays West Torrance, a 65-54 winner over Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, on Tuesday.
