Two by Toohey Lead Buena, 2-0

J.J. Toohey scored twice in seven minutes Saturday, lifting the Buena High girls’ soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Valencia in a Southern Section Division II first-round playoff match at Buena.
Toohey, a freshman midfielder, scored in the 28th and 35th minutes. The Bulldogs (21-2-4), Channel League champions, play Tuesday at league rival Ventura, which defeated Westlake, 1-0.
Valencia (12-7-4) was the Foothill League’s third-place representative.
In other Southern Section first-round matches:
Simi Valley 3, Santa Monica 1--Jill Clarkson scored twice in five minutes in the first half for the Pioneers (14-5-3) in the Division I match at Simi Valley.
Alex Ingraham scored for the Pioneers in the 42nd minute.
Thousand Oaks 4, Arcadia 0--Megan Cordes, Alia Khan, Lauren Mercaldo and Kami Mitchell scored for the Lancers (14-7-2) in a Division I match at Arcadia.
Chaminade 2, Redondo 0--Kerrie Clavadetscher scored her 18th goal and Amy Watts her 12th for the Eagles in a Division III defeat of the Seahawks (17-9) at Chaminade.
Chaminade (19-3-3) advanced to the second round for the first time in five postseason appearances.
Harvard-Westlake 3, Muir 0--Marisa Eddy scored twice and Molly Cahan had the other goal for the Wolverines (14-4-1) in a Division III match at Harvard-Westlake.
La Canada 3, Calabasas 1--Second-half goals by Brittany Zim and Susan Weizel broke a 1-1 tie and the Spartans (9-6-2) ousted the Coyotes (10-7-3) in a Division III match at La Canada.
Peninsula 5, Highland 0--The Bulldogs (15-6-3) were routed by the Panthers (20-4-4) in a Division I match at Peninsula.
Ventura 1, Westlake 0--Courtney Garmon scored in the 55th minute on a 22-yard free kick to lift the Cougars (18-5-3) in a Division II match at Westlake.
Oak Park 3, Thacher 0--Kim Horn scored twice and Rebecca Carroll had her 24th goal for the Eagles (12-8-5) in a Division IV defeat of the Toads (8-4-1) at Oak Park.
Julie Jensen posted her 11th shutout.
La Reina 9, Villanova 0--Sisters Maria and Alicia Bueschen each scored three goals and the Regents (19-4-2) trounced the Wildcats (14-4-2) in a Division IV match at La Reina.
