Chatsworth Blasts Into Final

Beezy Preis had two goals and Shannon DeVos and Jackie Fodor each had one Wednesday, powering the Chatsworth High girls’ soccer team past Palisades, 4-1, in a City Section 4-A Division semifinal at Chatsworth.
The Chancellors (17-1) advance to the final against Coast/Valley League rival Granada Hills, which defeated San Pedro, 2-0, in overtime. The match will be at noon on March 8 at East Los Angeles College.
Chatsworth, which has won 15 consecutive matches, is in pursuit of its second consecutive division title and its seventh in nine years.
Granada Hills 2, San Pedro 0--Amanda Light and Ami Ghoniem each scored in overtime for the third-seeded Highlanders (11-6-2), who upset the second-seeded Pirates (7-4-1) at San Pedro.
Cleveland 2, Bell 1--Modesta Salmeron, a freshman playing in her second varsity match, scored twice on passes from Brynne Blumstein for the host Cavaliers (18-5-0) in a first-round 3-A Division match.
BOYS
Kennedy 1, Jefferson 0--Leo Garcia scored in the 65th minute on a cross from Joaquin Trejo for the Golden Cougars (10-7-5) in a second-round match at Jefferson.
Goalkeeper Cameron Damwijk made seven saves, including one on a penalty kick, to post his fourth shutout of the season.
