Hope Springs Eternal for Northridge Football

The first day of spring football practice at Cal State Northridge had a different feel this time around, and not just because it was the first with Coach Jim Fenwick running the show.

There is an air of anticipation, with the Matadors preparing for a season in which they will be expected to contend for the Big Sky Conference championship.

“Now we know we are going to be good,” quarterback Aaron Flowers said. “But if we are going to be great, that depends on how hard we work here.”

There was also a comfortable feeling for Flowers, who was in Fenwick’s system two years ago at Valley.

“Everything is real familiar,” he said. “All the same signals and terminology. And everyone else is picking it up good, too.”
