Hart Gets More Good Fortune, 3-2

Amanda Fortune and Maureen LeCocq, former teammates for the 14-and-under national champion Southern California Stealth, squared off in a high school softball game Tuesday.

Each pitched five-hitters, but Fortune and Hart High earned a 3-2 victory over Chaminade at Chaminade Middle School.

Hart (7-0) broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth, the second run coming on a squeeze by Kellie Nordhagen.

Chaminade (1-3) answered with a run in its half of the fifth.

Fortune (7-0), a freshman right-hander, struck out six and walked two. LeCocq (1-3), a sophomore right-hander, struck out four and walked none.

Camarillo 2, Westlake 0--The Scorpions (3-2) scored two runs in the first against their former coach, Darwin Tolzin, in a Marmonte League opener at Camarillo.

Newbury Park 6, Royal 0--Stacie BeShore (5-0) struck out 10 and walked two in her third shutout for the Panthers in a Marmonte League opener at Newbury Park.

Oli Keohohou had two triples and two runs batted in, and Cindy Muran had two hits and an RBI for the Panthers (9-0).

Agoura 10, Channel Islands 0--Jennifer Grennan’s three-run home run highlighted a nine-run third inning for the Chargers (9-1) in a Marmonte League opener called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Eisenhower 2, Hoover 0--Cori Herbert pitched a five-hitter, struck out 14 and walked none, but allowed two earned runs in the first inning that cost the Tornadoes (3-2) in a nonleague game.

Justine Takizawa had two hits for Hoover.

L.A. Baptist 8, St. Genevieve 0--Megan Petersen pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 against the Valiants (0-2) at L.A. Baptist.

Petersen (3-0) had three stolen bases and hit a home run in the sixth, helping the Knights (4-1) win the first game on their new on-campus field.

El Camino Real 3, Palisades 2--Freshman Jacqui Goodchild’s single with two out in the seventh inning scored Ashley Redlin with the winning run for the Conquistadores (6-2) at El Camino Real.

Van Nuys 23, Eagle Rock 1--Veronica Ramos, Cassie Allison and Rosaria Leone hit three-run home runs for the Wolves (4-4) at Eagle Rock.

Regina Perez struck out 11 and walked two in a two-hitter.

San Fernando 6, Franklin 3--Valerie Perez and Alexandra Velasquez each had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (5-2) at San Fernando.

Kennedy 7, Canoga Park 0--Sandra Durazo struck out 15 in a one-hitter for the Golden Cougars (7-1) at Kennedy.

Durazo (7-1) allowed a first-inning double to Canoga Park (2-3) and did not walk a batter.

Poly 14, Belmont 0--Mary Casillas struck out 12 and allowed only a single to the first batter of the game for the Parrots at Poly.

Ligia Herrera’s two-run home run highlighted a six-run third inning for Poly (4-2).

Montclair Prep 2, Oak Park 1--Laura Power scored the tying run in the sixth inning and singled home Keland Morrow with the winning run in the seventh for the Mounties (4-3) at Oak Park (3-5).

La Canada 5, Flintridge Sacred Heart 4--Diane Abeles pitched a three-hitter for the Spartans (4-3) in a Mission League game at Glorietta Park.

Megan Hosp had three hits for Flintridge Sacred Heart (5-3).

Malibu 3, Calabasas 2--Heather Bell hit a solo home run but the Coyotes (1-6) lost a Frontier League opener at Malibu.
