UC Irvine Advances to Men’s Tennis Final

UC Irvine swept all six singles sets to beat Nebraska, 6-1, in one semifinal of the UCI/Marriott Men’s Tennis Classic Friday at the UCI Tennis Stadium.
Steve Tallakson beat Magnus Grahn, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles for UC Irvine, which advances to the championship at 1 p.m. today. The Anteaters (7-6) will meet Wisconsin at UCI.
Nebraska meets DePaul for third place at 12:30 at the Newport Beach Marriott.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
Stanford 3, UC Irvine 0--Andy Witt had 21 kills for visiting Stanford (11-3, 11-3), which won, 15-4, 15-2, 15-3. Chris Harger had 15 kills for Irvine (5-15, 3-12).
In the Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne Tournament:
Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne 3, Long Beach State 1--Gaby Amar had 18 kills and Chris Seiffert had 66 assists for Long Beach State (15-7).
