Calabasas Romps Past Nordhoff
Alex Menichini swept play at No. 1 singles and Calabasas High rolled to a 16-2 victory over Nordhoff in a Frontier League boys’ tennis opener Tuesday at the Ojai Racquet Club.
The Coyotes (6-3, 1-0 in league play), three-time defending league champions, were without top player Nicholas Weiss, who is playing in the Easter Bowl in Florida.
Taft 5, Cleveland 2--Farhad Hajimarzaee won at No. 1 singles for the Toreadors in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Cleveland.
Sherman Oaks CES 6, Poly 1--Juan Vega, Chris Mahdavian, Sal Raphael and Steve Stapol swept in singles for the Knights (5-0) in an East Valley League match at Reseda High.
Hoover 12, Crescenta Valley 6--The Tornadoes (7-2, 1-0), defending Pacific League co-champions, got three points from No. 1 singles player Danny Kim, who lost only one game in three sets, in a league match at Hoover.
BOYS’ GOLF
Hart 420, Burroughs 420, Valencia 425, Canyon 442, Saugus 443, Burbank 470--Peter Wurster shot a 79 to help Burroughs gain a tie with Hart in a six-team Foothill League match at the par-71 DeBell golf course in Burbank.
BOYS’ DIVING
Westlake 10, Camarillo 0--Eric Patton scored 217.55 points to place first for the Warriors in a Marmonte League meet at Newbury Park.
