Five people were arrested Saturday after a gang-related drive-by shooting that left two boys wounded, police said.

One of the victims was wounded in the hand and the other in his left thigh, police said. Both were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, police said.

Police declined to release the identities of the suspects and victims in the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation and the fact that most involved are juveniles.

The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Coventry Circle, Fullerton Police Lt. Tony Hernandez said.

The incident began when a car, carrying five people believed to be gang members from Garden Grove, drove to the dead-end street. Two other vehicles then “pulled in to close them off,” Hernandez said.

About 20 young people then began to throw objects and heckle the people in the trapped car, he said. The car managed to pull out and as the group was driving away, one of the passengers in the back seat fired at the crowd, wounding the two boys, he said.
