Hart’s Four-Over-Par Score Sets School Record

The Hart High golf team, two weeks after its worst tournament finish in recent memory, fired a school-record score of 309 at their home course of Vista Valencia on Tuesday in the second of six Foothill League tournaments.

The four-over-par score at the par-61 course was also a school record for team score in relation to par.

Four Hart players shot under par, including Ryan Wyman, who shot a 58. Charlie Smith, Brandon Wallace and Jesse Honea each shot 60.

Adrian Tan, who has carded several scores near par at Vista Valencia, shot an uncharacteristic 71.

On April 1, Hart shot a 65-over 420, one of the worst scores in school history, and tied Burroughs.

“Four twenty-four twenty was the only wake-up call we needed,” Hart Coach Dennis Ford said. “Call given, call answered.”

Notre Dame 196, Loyola 203--Nick Ellis and Mike Bellisario each shot 38 to pace the Knights (15-2, 10-0 in league play) to their 12th consecutive victory in a Mission League match at Wilshire Country Club.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Granada Hills 7, El Camino Real 0--Ashwin Reddy, Matt Weiss and Steve Ishoo each won straight-set victories in a Northwest Valley Conference showdown at Granada Hills.

Reddy and Weiss, 8-0 in singles play this season, won their matches by identical 6-2, 6-4 scores and Ishoo, who is 5-0, posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory for Granada Hills (8-0, 7-0), which handed El Camino Real (7-3, 6-1) its first conference loss.

Taft 6, Chatsworth 1--Farhad Hajimarzaee and Arash Shirehjini each recorded 6-0, 6-0 singles victories for the Toreadors (5-2, 4-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Taft.

Grant 6, Poly 1--Thom Snyder, Alex Goldberg and Josh Opos won in singles play for the Lancers (7-5, 5-4) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Poly.

Van Nuys 4, Monroe 3--Brad Herman and Peter Kung won a pivotal doubles match for the Wolves (9-1, 7-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Monroe.

Campbell Hall d. L.A. Baptist, 15-4, 15-9, 15-5--Larry Cole had 13 kills for the Vikings (7-2, 3-0) in an Alpha League match at L.A. Baptist.

Grant d. Poly, 15-9, 15-5, 15-13--Nathan Beck had eight kills for the Lancers (7-2, 4-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Grant.

Van Nuys d. Canoga Park, 15-3, 10-15, 15-3, 15-3--Larry Najera had 16 kills for the Wolves (8-1, 6-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Canoga Park.

St. Francis d. Chaminade, 15-13, 15-4, 15-12--Ed Stanislawski had 16 kills for the Golden Knights (6-4, 3-3) in a Mission League match at Chaminade.
