Fifth-Ranked Servite Gets by Ocean View

Servite scored four runs in the top of the seventh and defeated Ocean View, 7-5, in a Golden West League baseball game Saturday at Ocean View.

Greg Cicero’s two-run triple tied the score, 5-5, and Jeff Hultner followed with a two-run homer as fifth-ranked Servite (16-2, 7-10) avoided the upset.

Dan Kehr was two for three with a home run and three runs batted in for Ocean View (7-10, 2-5).

In the El Segundo softball tournament:

Corona del Mar 8, Redondo Beach Redondo Union 1--Wesley Wills was two for four with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Hayden Aley was two for four with a double, a run and an RBI in the first-round victory for Corona del Mar. Aley also pitched a two-hitter with two strikeouts and a walk.

In the second-round game, Erica Zoelle was two for three with a run and Wills was two for three with an RBI for Corona del Mar (7-10), which lost to Torrance Bishop Montgomery, 8-1.

In the Canyon Team Challenge boys’ tennis tournament:

Aliso Niguel 38, Santa Margarita 37--Aliso Niguel won the 13th annual event at Fullerton College, avenging a 12-6 loss to Santa Margarita earlier this season.

Burt Gonzell and John Lippert won in singles, 8-6, and Mark Hutchison and Sean King won in doubles, 8-1, to lead Aliso Niguel. Cody Shedd won in singles, 8-6, for Santa Margarita.
