Dominique, Reichert Win Big West Awards

Nevada’s Andy Dominique was selected player of the year and Pacific’s Dan Reichert was selected pitcher of the year in the Big West Conference by a vote of the conference’s baseball coaches.

Dominique, a senior, had 26 home runs and 87 runs batted in. He set conference career records with 58 home runs and 230 RBIs. Reichert, a junior, was 12-4 with a 2.17 earned-run average. He had 159 strikeouts to lead the nation.

Dave Snow, who led Long Beach State (34-22) to the conference’s South Division championship, was named coach of the year for the fifth time.

Long Beach’s Ara Petrosian, Marcus Jones and Toby Sanchez were named to the first team. Cal State Fullerton’s Mike Lamb, Jerome Alviso, Matt Wise and Mike Greenlee were selected to the first team.
