Younger, Lippens to Coach Marina Soccer Teams

Tino Ray Younger has been hired as Marina girls’ soccer coach, Marina Athletic Director Larry Doyle said Thursday.
Doyle also announced that Martin Lippens, the interim boys’ soccer coach, has been given the permanent position. Lippens, a Southern California College student, plays for the SCC men’s soccer team.
Younger, who coached the El Modena girls’ team for four seasons before resigning in 1994, will try to lead Marina back into the playoffs. The Vikings have narrowly missed postseason play for the past two seasons after winning three consecutive Southern Section titles.
Younger, who is also assistant women’s soccer coach at Cypress College, replaces Jorge Valenzuela.
Lippens, from Essen, Germany, coached club soccer for three years in Germany. He replaces Dave McLeish, who decided not to return to the Marina team after a one-season leave of absence. McLeish is the SCC coach.
