It’s been quite a comeback year for Leslie Musser of Van Nuys High.
Musser defeated Denisa Karpaty of Hamilton, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the City Section girls’ tennis semifinals Wednesday afternoon at Mountaingate Country Club.
Musser advanced to the quarterfinals as a sophomore in 1995, but missed most of last season with an injury.
Fully recovered, Musser returned and helped the Wolves to the 4-A Division semifinals before the individual tournament.
Musser will face Ilona Kordonskaya of Palisades, who defeated freshman Jasmin Dao of Granada Hills, 6-0, 6-0.
Jessica Rowland of Hollywood will play Kristina Olshanskaya of Palisades in the other semifinal.
Karen Fung and Ceryn Linder of Granada Hills advanced to the doubles semifinals with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Lawrece McCoy and Lauren Skulski of University.
Fung and Linder were one of three Highlander doubles teams to advance to the quarterfinals but Julie Kang and Nicole Frydman lost to Lucie Zatloukal and Stephanie Krauss of Palisades, 6-2, 6-0, and Ilah Layosa and Valerie Ramirez lost to Malaika Clements and Jennifer Davis of Hamilton, 7-6, (7-5), 6-3.
Fung and Linder will play Zatloukal and Krauss in the semifinals.
The semifinals are Friday.
